Maxine Fischer Scholarship for Young Women Application Deadline is February 23, 2010
The Maxine Fischer Scholarship Committee is seeking applicants for its annual scholarship award of $3,000.
The award winner will be an exceptional young woman living in the MetroWest Jewish community (Essex, Morris, Sussex, Northern Union, and West Hudson Counties), or attending college in MetroWest, presently at least a junior, and has declared a major in Jewish Studies and/or Women’s Studies. She must be a full-time student, either undergraduate or graduate, attending a fully accredited college or university. The candidate must have maintained a good academic record in all areas of study. She must have demonstrated involvement in a Jewish or Women’s Studies programs in the community and in synagogue, Jewish youth, Hillel, or other Jewish organizations.
Applications for the scholarship must be postmarked, faxed or received online by February 23, 2010.

All applicants must be available in person or by phone for an interview with the Scholarship Committee on March 22, 2010. The recipient will be introduced at Women’s Awareness Day, sponsored by United Jewish Communities of MetroWest’s Women’s Philanthropy and the Maxine Fischer Memorial Fund, on April 30, 2010.
The Maxine Fisher Scholarship was established by United Jewish Communities of MetroWest NJ’s Women’s Philanthropy, in conjunction with the Maxine Fischer Memorial Fund of the Jewish Community Foundation of MetroWest NJ. The scholarship is awarded in memory of Maxine Fischer, whose dedication was to Jewish education for women.
