UJC MetroWest supports Myanmar, China relief efforts

Working with UJC's overseas partner, American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), the Community Relations Committee of United Jewish Communities of MetroWest NJ has opened an emergency mailbox to raise relief funds for:
  • victims of Cyclone Nargid, which devastated portions of Myanmar on May 3, and
  • victims of an earthquake measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale struck Wenchuan County in southwest China’s Sichuan Province on Monday, May 12

The Community Relations Committee routinely responds to emergency and disaster situations around the world and works to galvanize support from the MetroWest community to demonstrate the Jewish values of tikkun olam (repair of the world) and g'milut chasidim (acts of loving kindness).

UJC MetroWest is providing an opportunity to support both relief funds with one transaction. When making a contribution to the emergency mailbox, you will have the option of designating funds to the Myanmar Cyclone Relief Fund, the CRC China Earthquake Fund, or both.

If you select both, the total amount of your transaction will be split evenly between the funds. Therefore, if you wish to contribute $100 to each fund, please make a contribution of $200 through the emergency mailbox and UJC will appropriately designate the monies.

All contributions are fully tax deductible, and 100% of the proceeds will be directed to the relief efforts.
