Netanyahu says no extension of settlement slowdown


JERUSALEM (AP) —Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday that his country will not extend a 10-month slowdown in West Bank settlement construction that is set to expire in late September. more

Untitled Document Diller Teens Fellows from MetroWest, NJ and Rishon Letzion, Israel celebrated recently at their graduation from a year long program of Jewish leadership. During their encounter in Israel, the fellows ran a very successful day camp for youth at the Ramat Eliyahu Community Center. The video demonstrates the Ruach (spirit) of the program and the great connections created between the fellows and the campers.

My days at City College remind me of my friendship with David Twersky, of blessed memory, who died last week. His activism, together with others, including, yours truly, helped to establish the first Jewish Studies Department at CCNY, headed by Rabbi Yitz Greenberg.   more

Last week I found myself back in the Knesset and not as a tourist. I was participating in a major lobbying effort to stop MK Rotem’s "Conversion Bill," a legislation that could endanger many achievements in building a more pluralistic society here and severely harm Israel Diaspora relationships. It was a great opportunity for me to compare notes and see what had changed in the heart of the political arena and what had not.   more

Jewish Federations support the Ethiopian National Project's Scholastic Assistance Program, which aims to build self-confidence and self-esteem among Ethiopian-Israeli youth by working in small groups to address the issues this at-risk population faces.
